Can this really be news? I am glad they don't have a rule book, because they would not read it.BY anita on 10/07/2009 at 20:02
You cant make this stuff up!! It just shows with the group hes playing with, on our dime, that white men can jump too, or we will see. "eyes rolling"BY JumpforJoy on 10/07/2009 at 20:08
Here's another shining example of high level political incompetence of "The Empty Suit" Obama will expend more time playing basketball(by the way, its a hobby for this political chump because he never played college basketball) than he spent in talking with Gen. McCrystal and the current status in Afghanistan. Finally, this "political chump" should be embarrassed and he should modified his frivolous schedule to venture to Dover AFB to show some "fricking respect" to the eight servicemembers who were killed and returned home. So, the "Empty Suit" conducts himself as on a "fulltime paid internship" at the expense of the American people and not to mention our military personnel. He should be 'Censured" by the Congress and the American people.BY Brett Michael on 10/07/2009 at 21:19
brett michael, you need to take your meds, if you can read so much into a simple basketball game.do you take any kind of exercise at all? or do you spend all your time scouring the blogs for news on President Obama that you can disparage with your mind-numbing "wit"?BY elle a on 10/07/2009 at 21:37
Elle A,In an effort to calm your "neo-liberal" spirits and your unfettered loyalty to "The Empty Suit" Obama(i.e., no actual birth certificate, his sealed academic records[scholar ship funding source]. I know this is going to "harm" you on various fronts about my level of physical activity. First, I am former US Paratrooper serving in a Reconnaissance Platoon with the elite 82nd Airborne Division(Ft. Bragg,NC). If you're familiar with the rigor it takes to be a member in this type of specialized platoon, I would highly recommend that you conduct a Goggle search and then, you'll keep your lips tight"(no pun intended). Second, I ran both track and cross-country at a Division I program and have maintained that same level of fitness up to this point(i.e., local road races). Finally, I am most certain that if you ever had the opportunity to run with me, I could really afford you the chance to experience "cardiac arrest" and you can "the Empty Suit" along with you in a supporting role. By the way, I'm currently working on my Ph.D. in International Relations who just so happen to be a Black male and a registered Independent. So, have a good political trip supporting policies that you clearly are not familiar with the intracacies.Insha Allah(God Willing, in Arabic) and Uhambe Khale(Go Well, in isiZulu)BY Brett Michael on 10/07/2009 at 22:05
Well pix of this should go over well in China and Japan where they are buying our debt. Might go well for the troops in Afghanistan as well. Geez, what dufus came up with this idea? This president is acting out like a child actor under pressure. How regrettable because most other people are sitting at a desk trying to figure out how to pay their bills. Perhaps Obama might want to take the time to actually read some of the bills.BY JD Plus on 10/07/2009 at 22:51

And this qualifies for NEWS these days. Pathetic reporting and reporter. What a disgrace. When's the last time the Hill wrote an article on the War in Afghan or Irag and our soldiers being handcuffed by lawmakers…BY DO on 10/08/2009 at 07:47
maybe they will all blow out a knee, or break an ankle. Then they will have plenty of time to sit at a desk and get some work done.BY Jack on 10/08/2009 at 10:35

Drudge Report
"Punch will stun West," reads the headline above the fold on Drudge this Tuesday. The line refers to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's recent, vague promise this week to somehow "punch the arrogance" of the West on February 11. Also above the fold: A slew of weather-related links, including a report from the National Weather Service that predicts more snow for the already buried Capitol.… Read More »

"Healthcare theatrics" reads the banner atop The Huffington Post, which links to an AP story on the White House's struggle to bring GOP leaders to the table for a televised healthcare summit. The AP questions whether the event may have any utility outside of immediate personal politics. Below, reporter Sam Stein reports Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) plans to vote against the White House's nominee for the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), Craig Becker.… Read More »

Moe Lane this morning summarizes the latest back-and-forth between the White House and congressional GOP leaders over healthcare. The White House wants Republicans to join Democrats for a televised healthcare summit in the coming days, but GOP leaders do not want Democrats' bill to be the basis for those talks. Meanwhile, Brian Darling takes on NYT columnist Paul Krugman's latest piece, in which he rails on the filibuster (and the GOP's use of it). "He is clearly way outside of his area of expertise when talking about Senate procedure, because his analysis is laughable," Darling writes.… Read More »
The Washington Independent
Spencer Ackerman leads The Washington Independent this morning with a post about William Lietzau, a top Obama White House appointee first installed during President George W. Bush's tenure. Lietzau handled the military commissions the Supreme Court later found unconstitutional, and Ackerman reports that he will soon become Deputy Assistant Secretary for Detainee Affairs.Earlier, David Weigel shared Defense Secretary Robert Gates' thoughts on the passing of Pennsylvania Rep. John Murtha (D). Noted Gates: "In our dealings over the years, Jack and I did not always agree, but I always respected his candor, and knew that he cared deeply about the men and women of America’s military and intelligence community." … Read More »

John Aravosis points out that Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) has dropped most of his unprecedented blanket hold on most of the White House's nominees -- except a few defense posts, which remain tied up as Shelby seeks two lucrative military contracts for his home state. Later, Aravosis reports that the Department of Health and Human Services has opened an investigation into the California Blue Cross health insurance program, following reports that premiums there have increased 39 percent recently.… Read More »

Also, gues blogger Ralph Reed offers his thoughts on former Gov. Sarah Palin's national political aspirations.
