Catherine Wilkins is determined to stand out as demonstrated by her mentality going into Arkansas Tech University, where she graduated last May.
“I told my mom, ‘If I’m gonna go, they’re gonna know who I am.’ So I got involved in everything imaginable,” she said.
Along with being involved in student government, she was on the executive board of her sorority, helped with a campus ministry and was on Homecoming Court.
Fast forward past graduation, and it was a whirlwind for Wilkins. She secured an internship at Wit Associates, worked on now-Rep. Tom Cotton’s (R-Ark.) House campaign, and, later, got a job on Capitol Hill after his victory.
“I can’t believe it, but I’m still here. And I wouldn’t change a thing. I love it,” she said.
Wilkins’ days are hectic. Now wearing multiple hats as a staff assistant, press assistant and intern coordinator for Cotton, there isn’t much room for faintheartedness.
“I’m really not scared of a lot. Like my best friend would say, someone would hold a gun to my head and I’d be like, ‘oh, they’re not really going to shoot me!’ I just have that outlook. “
So what does this bubbly brunette, a self-proclaimed perfectionist and “girly girl” do for fun? Dancing and shopping are high on the list.
And, as it turns out, her Southern roots have impressed upon her not only a penchant for country music, but also, a love of the outdoors. Along with hiking and tubing, she enjoys a day out on the lake.
As for staying fit, Wilkins says portion control is important, but shouldn’t stop a person from eating what they want, as is indicated by her preferred meal and snack: cheeseburgers and sour gummy candy, respectively.
And for her secret to staying beautiful, Wilkins offers an often-overlooked beauty tip: “People try to make themselves look like the status quo. The real beauty isn’t the makeup. I mean it helps. But inner confidence and happiness with yourself is really what shines through.”
