A self-proclaimed “museum nerd” and “foodie,” Julie Goldfarb has found the perfect place to enjoy those things while staying in shape in Washington, D.C.
“D.C. is just a healthy place in general. It encourages you to walk. There are a ton of restaurants that do all-natural, organic food. It is an easy city to be healthy in,” she said.
When she is able to fight her cravings for cheese and chocolate, Goldfarb enjoys eating breakfast for dinner, Mexican food and grilling with her boyfriend.
The legislative aide for Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.) first came to Washington as a fellow for former Sen. George Voinovich (R-Ohio), and returned after finishing law school at Elon University in North Carolina.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling. Goldfarb recently returned from a trip to Costa Rica and has a trip to San Francisco planned for the near future.
Goldfarb also enjoys working out, pushing herself to go to the gym by rewarding herself with television.
“I only watch my favorite shows while I’m at the gym,” she said.
But going to the gym is nothing new for this former gymnast, and she still follows gymnastics to this day.
“My boyfriend made fun of me because I was obsessed with the U.S. gymnastics team that won, and Aly Raisman was just up here [on Capitol Hill]. I got to meet her. It was awesome,” she said.
Despite being one of Capitol Hill’s most beautiful people, Goldfarb said that she is not a high-maintenance type of girl. She prefers the more natural look for herself.
“My friends make fun of me. I have super curly hair, and I don’t do a lot to it. I’m very minimalistic when it comes to makeup. I just pretty much do myself.”
