Bill Gates votes as an independent, Melinda says

By Kim Hart - 10/26/09 07:00 AM ET

Microsoft founder Bill Gates and his wife Melinda Gates, who together run the Gates Foundation, will be in Washington tomorrow night to give a presentation at Sidney Harman Hall about successful efforts targeting global health issues.

Melinda had a short interview with my colleage Walter Alarkon last week. She said Congress and the administration should keep funding global health initiatives. She also praised President George W. Bush for his global health efforts and the Obama administration for continuing them.

She declined to say how they voted in the last election, saying only that she and Bill are independents. "We really do vote based as we see in a given year," she said.

Read more about the interview.
