2 Americans killed in Istanbul attack

Two Americans were killed in an Istanbul suicide bombing Saturday, according to a White House release.

The two Americans were among five people killed in a suicide attack in the Turkish city, and dozens more were injured. Their identities haven’t been released.

A spokesman for the National Security Council called the attacks “heinous” and said the U.S. remains supportive of Turkey, its NATO ally, and will stay in close touch with Turkish authorities.

Two Israelis and one Iranian citizen were also killed in Saturday’s attack. CNN is reporting that the two Israelis were dual Israeli-American citizens, citing a source within the Israeli government.

It’s the sixth suicide bombing in Turkey this year.
