NRA employee accidentally shoots himself at headquarters: report

Police said Friday that one person had been injured during a firearms safety course at the National Rifle Association's (NRA) headquarters after an employee's pistol discharged while he holstered it, NBC4 reported.

The employee, described as a 46-year-old man, suffered a minor wound to his lower body and was taken to the hospital, according to the report.

The accidental shooting happened Thursday during a firearms training at the organization's National Firearms Museum in Fairfax, Va.

Police working with the local attorney's office said they don't expect any charges to be filed.

A spokesperson for the NRA didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
