Republican strategist Ricky Diaz is joining FP1 Strategies, a major GOP government and political firm.

Diaz, who served as North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory's (R) campaign spokesman in 2012 and most recently served as communications director for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, will join the firm as a vice president.

"FP1 has assembled a strong team of some of the most talented and accomplished operatives in politics, and I am excited to join such a distinguished firm," Diaz says in a statement.

Diaz is also a veteran of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's (R) administration, having served as his director of media affairs, and was Sen. Richard Burr's (R-N.C.) campaign communications director in 2010. He'll focus on advertising campaigns in his new role.

"We are thrilled to welcome Ricky to our firm,” said FP1 Strategies partner Jon Downs. "Ricky has a unique background in strategic communications, media relations, digital media, video production and branding that will help our firm deliver the best television, radio and online advertising campaigns for our clients."
