Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said Wednesday he might continue to support a controversial gun-owners’ rights group despite taking heat from from Republican colleagues. Paul recently signed a fundraising letter for the National Association for Gun Rights, which has run television and radio ads accusing Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) of teaming up with liberal Democrats to push gun-control legislation. Paul distanced himself from the group, but said he might continue to help with its fundraising.
“I have signed fundraising letters for them. I don’t have a
connection with the group. It’s illegal for me to have a direct
connection with the group or talk about what ads they run or not,” said
Paul. “I can make a decision in the future over whether I’ll continue to
do it, and I haven’t come to a conclusion or thought that through yet.”

The Republican National Committee (RNC) released a new Web ad Wednesday slamming President Obama over a planned trip to California to raise money for House Democrats.
The president will head to San Francisco on Wednesday evening after a stop in Colorado, where he plans to hold an event to rally support for congressional action on new gun control laws. In California, Obama will attend a $5,000-per-person cocktail reception and a $32,500-per-person dinner, with proceeds from both benefiting the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee rips Rep. Paul Ryan's (R-Wis.) budget as "Robin Hood in reverse" in a new Web video. The video compiles news clips of people criticizing the plan, including one who calls the plan "Robin Hood in reverse," and lists many of the cuts that the plan includes while accusing Ryan of wanting tax cuts for wealthier Americans.

Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) on Thursday reintroduced legislation that would prevent intrusive political phone calls, or robo-calls, from being made to anyone signed up to the national "Do Not Call" registry.
The Robo Calls Off Phones (Robo COP) Act, H.R. 1315, is meant to let people opt out of what Foxx calls a "bothersome campaign-season interruption."
