Supreme Court: GOP must comply with limits on ballot monitoring
The Supreme Court said Monday that the Republican Party must continue to adhere to an agreement designed to limit voter suppression.
The Republican National Committee (RNC) had asked the high court to reconsider a 1981 court order that limits the party's ability to carry out "ballot integrity programs."
The RNC had asked the Supreme Court to re-examine the limits "based on extensive changes in federal and state election laws and its good-faith compliance with the terms and purpose of the decree over the course of more than two decades."
The court declined to get involved Monday. As usual, there was no explanation of its decision.
