The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee raised $5.4 million in April, compared to $5.1 million for its GOP counterpart.

President Obama will headline a joint fundraising event for the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Monday in New York City, the White House announced.

According to the New York Post, the fundraiser will cost $32,400 per head and be held at the Manhattan home of Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.

The invitation, which was sent to 65 guests, promises "a frank and intimate discussion with the president." Attendees will also have the chance to have their photo taken with Obama.

The Republican National Committee urged the Supreme Court on Tuesday to strike down certain limits on campaign contributions, saying they're a violation of the First Amendment.

The RNC filed its opening brief in a case challenging limits on the total amount one person can donate in a single election cycle. The RNC says the limits are unconstitutional.

If the court agrees, donors who now max out at around $120,000 per year could be able to donate more than $3 million per cycle.

The May 29 fundraiser will be held in New York City for the Democratic National Committee and will honor the LGBT community.

The nonprofit group born from President Obama's reelection campaign had 109,582 donors in the first quarter.
