Linda McMahon's self-funding tops $41 million

Republican Linda McMahon loaned her Senate campaign another $20 million in the third quarter, according to a report filed with the Federal Election Commission.

That brings the total amount of cash the former World Wrestling Entertainment CEO has poured into her own Senate race against Democrat Richard Blumenthal to $41.5 million.

McMahon's filing shows she did raise some $33,000 from individual contributors during the third quarter. In all, she's raised just shy of $60,000 from individuals to date.

McMahon, who has said previously she's willing to spend some $50 million of her own money on the race, ended the third quarter with $2.5 million cash on hand.

Blumenthal raised just more than $2 million in the third quarter and reported $1.1 million cash on hand.

The latest Rasmussen poll in the race gives Blumenthal a 5-point edge — 51 percent to 46 percent.
