Perry, Obama both to headline fundraisers in New York on Monday

President Obama and Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) will both be in New York City Monday night for fundraising events.

Obama's fundraiser is during a visit to New York for a meeting of the United Nations General Assembly. Obama is scheduled to attend a Democratic National Committee (DNC) fundraising event at a private New York residence that evening.

Meanwhile, Perry, who has started leading in GOP presidential primary polls, will be at a fundraiser with Hispanic business leaders in Manhattan's Washington Heights/Inwood area, according to PolitickerNY. The fundraiser is hosted by New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers head Fernando Mateo.

"He reached out to me, and I was honored by it," Mateo told Politicker. "I have certainly made up my mind. He is the person I will be supporting for president. I believe he will turn this country around."

Politicker reported that Perry's fundraiser will be at a Mexican restaurant and the expected haul of the night's fundraising will be in the range of between $50,000 and $100,000.

In the second quarter, Obama's reelection campaign and the DNC reported raising a total of $86 million.
