Huntsman’s father accounts for 70 percent of pro-Huntsman super-PAC donations

By Rachel Leven - 01/31/12 01:11 PM ET

Former GOP presidential candidate Jon Huntsman’s father donated close to $2 million to the pro-Huntsman super-PAC, Federal Election Commission filings show.

Jon Huntsman Sr. gave Our Destiny PAC approximately $1.9 million, or 70 percent of the super-PAC’s roughly $2.7 million fundraising haul for the fourth quarter of 2011. The next-largest donor, who gave only $250,000, was Research Affiliates Chairman Peter Arnott, filings show.

Our Destiny PAC disclosed that it had no debts and almost $127,000 cash on hand at the end of this reporting period.

Huntsman Jr., a former Utah governor and ambassador to China under the Obama administration, dropped out of the race mid-January after a disappointing third-place finish in New Hampshire. Huntsman endorsed front-runner Mitt Romney soon after.
