A bevy of Hollywood stars will join President Obama at a Democratic National Committee fundraiser hosted by "Sin City" director Robert Rodriguez next month in Texas, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Rodriguez, an outspoken Latino activist, founded El Rey, a television network catering to Latino audiences.
During the promotion of the 2010 "Machete" film, Rodriguez took aim at Arizona's controversial state immigration law, which made it illegal for immigrants not to carry registration documents with them at all times. Rodriguez released a video showing the movie's titular character engaging in a bloody rampage in response to the law, which was later largely struck down by the Supreme Court.
The president is also expected to travel to Dallas on July 9 for a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee fundraiser with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), according to an invitation obtained by The Associated Press.
Tickets for that event — a summer barbecue at the home of former National Jewish Democratic Council Chairman Marc Stanley — range between $10,000 and $32,400.
