Sarah Palin's PAC raises $755,500 in six months

By Rachel Leven

Sarah Palin’s political action committee has raised approximately $755,500 since the beginning of July, according to Federal Election Commission filings.

SarahPAC has about $1.01 million cash on hand and zero debt. Most of the money came from individual donations. No political party committees donated to her PAC in 2011, filings show.

Her PAC has spent about $1.2 million since July and $2.7 million total last year, which included $5,000 to the Republican Party of Iowa in August.

The PAC also spent more than $71,000 on management and fundraising consultants; $57,500 on political and candidate consulting; $53,000 on speech writing and grassroots consulting; and at least $29,500 on lodging.

Huntsman’s father accounts for 70 percent of pro-Huntsman super-PAC donations

By Rachel Leven

Former GOP presidential candidate Jon Huntsman’s father donated close to $2 million to the pro-Huntsman super-PAC, Federal Election Commission filings show.

Jon Huntsman Sr. gave Our Destiny PAC approximately $1.9 million, or 70 percent of the super-PAC’s roughly $2.7 million fundraising haul for the fourth quarter of 2011. The next-largest donor, who gave only $250,000, was Research Affiliates Chairman Peter Arnott, filings show.

Our Destiny PAC disclosed that it had no debts and almost $127,000 cash on hand at the end of this reporting period.

Huntsman Jr., a former Utah governor and ambassador to China under the Obama administration, dropped out of the race mid-January after a disappointing third-place finish in New Hampshire. Huntsman endorsed front-runner Mitt Romney soon after.

House Dems raise $61 million in 2011

By Josh Lederman

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) raised $61.4 million in 2011, a figure they say puts them in position to top their Republican counterpart for 2011 despite being in the minority.

House Democrats raised $5.3 million in December, upping their war chest from $10.2 million to $11.6 million and fulfilling a commitment to clear out the remainder of their debt by the end of 2011.

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) hasn’t released its December or year-end totals, which are due at the end of the month. But to finish the year with more money raised than Democrats, the NRCC would need to have raised $9.6 million in December — more than three times what they yielded in November.

Rep. Baldwin raises $1.1 million for Senate race

By Josh Lederman

Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.) topped $1.1 million in fundraising in the last three months of 2011, her campaign announced Thursday.

Baldwin, who is running for the Senate seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Herb Kohl (D-Wis.), has more than $1.8 million in the bank heading into 2012. Her campaign said more than 16,000 individual donors had contributed.

“This shows our strength, and these resources will be critical in responding to the false, negative right-wing attacks sure to come our way,” the campaign wrote on her Facebook page.

The fourth quarter was less successful for Baldwin than the third quarter of 2011, when she raised $1.3 million. But it puts her far ahead of Mark Neumann, one of her Republican rivals, who pulled in $518,000 between October and December, according to the Wisconsin Reporter.

The other Republicans in the primary — Tommy Thompson and Jeff Fitzgerald — have not yet released their fourth-quarter figures. Tallies are due to the Federal Election Commission by the end of the month.

Money race: Stabenow tops $1.2 million in last quarter of 2011

By Josh Lederman

Fundraising results from the final three months of 2011 aren't officially due to the Federal Election Commission until the end of January, but numbers have already started trickling out from campaigns looking to get a boost out of their year-end success in the money race.

Here's a look at some of the House and Senate campaigns that announced fourth-quarter results on Tuesday:

• Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) raised more than $1.2 million between October and December, and now has $5.9 million in the bank, according to a campaign source. Her top Republican rival, former Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-Mich.), has already announced he raised more than $1 million during the quarter.

• Sheriff Paul Babeu (R) of Arizona's Pinal County pulled in about $263,000 in just 68 days for his bid for a newly redrawn House district. Babeu, who has $235,000 on hand heading into 2012, had expected to have that district to himself in the primary. But a surprise move by Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) to run in the same district as Babeu means the two will face off in the GOP primary.

• Lois Frankel (D), the former mayor of West Palm Beach, Fla., added $320,000 to her coffers in the last quarter of 2011. That's less than the $415,000 she hauled in the quarter before, but still leaves her with a solid $1.4 million war chest. Her main Democratic opponent, Patrick Murphy, raised more than $300,000 during the quarter.
