Romney wins in Guam, Mariana Islands

By Jamie Klatell - 03/10/12 12:00 PM ET

Mitt Romney won two Republican primary contests Saturday in the Pacific Rim.

Romney won the support of Republicans in Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands at the territories' conventions.

Nine delegates from each territory will go to the former Massachusetts governor at this summer's Republican National Convention.

“I am grateful to have won all nine delegates in Guam, and I am pleased that my son Matt was able to visit the island on my behalf and be there for the caucuses," Romney said in one statement.

"Now the voters of the Northern Mariana Islands—nearly 8,000 miles from Washington, D.C.—have spoken," he said in a later statement. "And what they’ve said today is that they want to bring change to their beautiful islands by bringing change to our nation’s capital."
