Romney super-PAC's Louisiana mailer lists wrong election day

By Cameron Joseph - 03/13/12 05:43 PM ET

A mailer sent to Louisiana Republicans by the pro-Romney super-PAC Restore Our Future misstated the day of the week the election will occur.

The mailer, obtained by The Hill, states the correct primary date, March 24, but says that the primary is on Tuesday. March 24 is a Saturday.

The campaign literature attacks Rick Santorum as "another big-spending politician and Washington insider" and describes Romney as a "strong conservative leader."

The error seems to be a mistake rather than an attempt to get voters to miss Election Day, because it targets potential Romney supporters.

"It was a mistake, and we will be calling those folks to give them the correct day," Restore Our Future spokeswoman Brittany Gross told The Hill when asked about the mailer.

Romney is locked in a tight three-way race with Santorum and Newt Gingrich, according to a recent poll of the state, though the results of Alabama and Mississippi's primaries Tuesday night will likely have an impact on the race.
