Reid: Romney has gone into Etch A Sketch mode sooner than expected

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Tuesday that Mitt Romney has already morphed into an Etch A Sketch candidate in anticipation of the general election.

“The Etch A Sketch is coming sooner than I thought. He’s for education bill, now he’s for [the] Violence Against Women [Act]. Great,” Reid said.

Romney regrets putting dog on the roof of the car

Mitt Romney admitted in an interview Monday that, if he had to do it all over again, he would not have put his dog on the roof of his car because of the attention the story's received on the campaign trail.

Asked if he would repeat the incident, he told ABC News: "Certainly not with the attention it's received."

{mosads}Critics have used the Romney's 1983 road trip, where dog Seamus’ rode in a carrier lashed to the top of the family car, to paint the former Massachusetts governor as insensitive.

Adding to the critics fodder was the fact that the dog got sick during the trip and Romney stopped the car to hose it down, but left the dog on the roof, where its carrier had a shield to protect Seamus from the wind.

Ann Romney, defended her husband's actions, however.

She told ABC the "dog loved it" and downplayed the stories that the dog had experienced diarrhea during the trip.

"We traveled all the time and he ate the turkey on the counter. I mean, he had the runs. But he would see that crate and, you know, he would, like, go crazy because he was going with us on vacation. It was to me a kinder thing to bring him along than to leave him in the kennel for two weeks," she said.
