Rick Santorum said Mitt Romney's success in the Republican presidential primary, as well as his own decision to suspend his campaign, was largely because of money.
Santorum said that his electoral chances seemed to dim faster and faster as money became a "more substantive" issue for his campaign, especially after the Wisconsin primary on April 3.
"After the last week in Wisconsin, we basically had no money," Santorum said in a radio interview with the Family Research Council's Tony Perkins on Thursday. Romney won that primary with roughly 44 percent of the vote.

Newt Gingrich delivered a blistering critique of Fox News on Wednesday night, accusing the cable network of favoring rival Mitt Romney and saying that in his experience, he believes "CNN is less biased than Fox this year."
“I think Fox has been for Romney all the way through,” Gingrich said during a private meeting at Wesley College in Delaware that Real Clear Politics gained access to. “In our experience, Callista and I both believe CNN is less biased than Fox this year. We are more likely to get neutral coverage out of CNN than we are of Fox, and we’re more likely to get distortion out of Fox. That’s just a fact.”
Gingrich also accused Rupert Murdoch, the chairman and CEO of Fox's parent company, of advocating for the former Massachusetts governor.

The top strategist for Rick Santorum's presidential campaign said some of the more aggressive attacks against Mitt Romney won't be an issue in the presidential race.
"I think that you have to remember still his goal — when you look at him versus Mitt Romney there's no comparison," Brabender said Wednesday on MSNBC. "There are disagreements. It's not unusual that there are disagreements between Republican candidates. But at the end of the day we're family. End of the day we all do stick together and are together. And I think you will hear Rick saying that."

Mitt Romney looked to reverse a tumultuous morning on women's issues Wednesday, proclaiming "the real war on women is being waged by the president's failed economic policies" while campaigning in Hartford, Conn.
Romney took the stage flanked by six female business owners at a graphics company and repeatedly hammered the president for an economy the presumptive Republican nominee says has been particularly tough on women and families.
"I was disappointed in listening to the president when he said, 'Oh, the Republicans are waging a war on women.' The real war on women is being waged by the president's failed economic policies," Romney said.
