A prominent Republican billionaire is bankrolling a new advertising campaign through the super-PAC he funds.

Joe Ricketts, the founder of TD Ameritrade Inc. and owner of the Chicago Cubs, is spending a total of $12 million on advertising supporting Mitt Romney and congressional Republican races, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

Ricketts will fund the advertising blitz through his super-PAC, the Ending Spending Action Fund.

The ads begin airing this week, according to the newspaper.

Ryan has had a higher favorability rating than Biden in every major nonpartisan national poll since joining the GOP ticket.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) would prefer that Mitt Romney pick Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) as his vice presidential running mate.

"I'm partial to Rob Portman. I've been a longtime friend. He's a United States senator from Ohio, served as director of Office of Management and Budget under George W. Bush. Also served as U.S. Trade Rep. Served in the U.S. House of Representatives as well, knows his way around Washington, and I think he'd be a great asset for Gov. Romney," the House Speaker said in an interview with Greta Van Susteren Thursday evening.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) Tuesday rounded-up a host of attacks used against President Obama over the past few months in a new Web video, hammering the president for lacking the "commitment and understanding" to revive the economy. 

Paul had hoped to win enough delegates to be nominated and secure a speaking slot at the national convention.

“I think the Romney campaign organization is very insecure,” said the Texas lawmaker.

The outside spending group Crossroads GPS launched a new television ad Thursday accusing President Obama of supporting failed economic policies and calling on him to reduce the federal debt.

Of the two components to Romney’s economic argument against Obama, he’s in the midst of arguing the most important one.

Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin rallied conservative media activists for “victory in 2012” as the keynote speaker at the RightOnline conference in Las Vegas on Friday, but never mentioned the Republican Party’s presumptive presidential nominee, Mitt Romney.
