A prominent anti-abortion-rights group has created a super-PAC to take on President Obama in 2012. The National Right to Life’s political action committee, dubbed the Victory Fund, will focus primarily on defeating Obama and electing a “pro-life president,” according to David O’Steen, the group's executive director. “The challenge posed by Obama is the greatest danger we’ve ever [faced]. We see this as the greatest challenge to abortions since Roe v. Wade,” O’Steen said, referring to the Supreme Court decision.

GOP presidential hopeful Rick Santorum received the endorsement of prominent conservative activist Richard Viguerie. The campaign announced the endorsement on Tuesday. Viguerie endorsed Santorum Monday.
Viguerie is considered the mastermind behind political direct mailers. The Santorum campaign cited The Nation magazine's description of Viguerie as "one of the 'creators of the modern conservative movement.' "

House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman John Mica (R-Fla.) threw his support on Monday behind Mitt Romney in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. "It has not been my practice to endorse candidates in primary elections," Mica said in a statement. But he added that he felt compelled to back Romney, who is widely regarded as the GOP front-runner after his victories in the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary. "As I look at the direction our country has been taken under this president, I worry for our children and our grandchildren about our future," he said. "As I look at the field of candidates in this election, no one matches the outstanding business and elected executive credentials of Mitt Romney.
