Virginia gubernatorial nominee Terry McAuliffe (D) is touting his work across the aisle to support Gov. Bob McDonnell's (R) transportation bill, an effort to burnish his centrist image.
McAuliffe focuses on his effort to help garner Democratic support for the bill, which passed over resistance from some Tea Party-affiliated Republicans in the statehouse — as well as from Virginia Attorney General and GOP gubernatorial nominee Ken Cuccinelli (R), who opposed the bill until shortly before its passage.

A Republican poll gives state Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli (R) an 8 percentage point lead over Democrat Terry McAuliffe in the race for Virginia governor, a reversal of an earlier poll released Thursday.

Former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist — a Republican turned Independent turned Democrat — holds a strong lead over Gov. Rick Scott (R) in a new poll handicapping a potential gubernatorial showdown in 2014. The Quinnipiac University survey released Wednesday found Crist's recent party switch would not prove a liability in the governor’s race, and could actually be an asset. Fifty percent of voters said his switch was pragmatic, while 40 percent disapproved. The poll shows Crist leading by 16 points, 50-34, in a hypothetical matchup against Scott in next year’s election.

Republican Gov. Chris Christie (N.J.) on Wednesday dismissed a snub from the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) after organizers neglected to invite him to speak at the annual gathering of conservative leaders.
“That’s their prerogative,” Christie said when asked about the slight at an event in Montville, N.J., according to The Wall Street Journal. Christie said that he receives hundreds of speaking invitations a week and doesn’t keep track of them all.
“I wish them the best,” he said.

Rep. Allyson Schwartz (D-Pa.) plans to run against Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett (R) in 2014.
"It is my intention," Schwartz told the Philadelphia Daily News when asked if she'll run.
The congresswoman has a deep national fundraising network, built partly by her work with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and is close to both House leadership and national liberal groups.
