The conservative bent of Rep. Frank Kratovil's (Md.) congressional district proved too much to overcome for the freshman Democrat on Tuesday, as he went down to defeat at the hands of Republican Andy Harris.

Kratovil voted against healthcare reform and sought to distance himself from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) in campaign ads, but Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) won Kratovil's district with nearly 60 percent of the vote in 2008.
