McNerney wins; only one more House race still outstanding

By Emily Goodin - 11/24/10 08:36 PM ET

Three-term Rep. Jerry McNerney (D-Calif.) won his tough reelection race against Republican David Harmer.

The election had been too close to call since Election Day although McNerney claimed victory last week. The Associated Press called the race Wednesday evening.

McNerney won by 2,475 votes, or about one percent of the 237,808 ballots counted, according to the AP.

It was the last race in California to be called. Rep. Jerry Costa's (D-Calif.) outstanding race was called Tuesday.

Although Republicans picked up 63 seats this election cycle, no California seat changed hands.

That leaves one outstanding House race before the 2010 election can officially be over. In New York, Democratic Rep. Tim Bishop holds a 235-vote lead over Republican Randy Altschuler.

Both Altschuler and Bishop are scheduled to be in a New York state court on Tuesday where a judge will address the over 2,000 ballots challenged in the race.
