Louisiana state Sen. Elbert Guillory is moving toward a run for Rep. Vance McAllister's (R-La.) House Seat.
Guillory told The Hill on Saturday he's "90% committed to run and will decide by midnight Sunday!."
Guillory indicated that he's working to secure possible endorsements for his House bid.
"Many calls and emails and meetings in last 72 hours. Many commitments of financial and energy support," he said.
When McAllister announced in April he wouldn't seek reelection amid the personal scandal, Guillory said he would run if State Sen. Neil Riser, who has decided not to run, opted out.
“Neil Riser has my full support if he runs, and if he does not it is something that I will have to look at,” he told The Hill.
Guillory added that, if Riser doesn’t run, “it’s such a great opportunity, it is something I cannot turn my back on.”
