Former Rep. Grayson crashes into bus en route to fundraiser

By Josh Lederman - 03/12/12 09:56 AM ET

Former Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) crashed into a bus in Orlando, Fla., on Saturday while en route to a campaign fundraiser, but no serious injuries were reported.

Grayson, who is making a comeback bid for the House, ran a red light in his Mercedes and struck a public bus, NBC affiliate WESH reported. Grayson and his passengers were uninjured, but two people who were on the bus were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Grayson had been on his way to a fundraiser for his campaign, where actress Cheryl Hines and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. were scheduled to appear.

The National Republican Congressional Committee, circulating the story on Monday, called Grayson “certifiably insane” and noted that the crash was being investigated.
