NRCC raises $6.9M in April, besting DCCC

By Josh Lederman - 05/18/12 09:37 AM ET

House Republicans raised almost $7 million in April, out-raising their Democratic counterparts by almost one-half million dollars.

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) raised $6.9 million to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s $6.5 million. With $31 million in the bank, Republicans also have a cash-on-hand advantage over Democrats of more than $6 million.

The NRCC added $4.2 million to their war chest in April, while the DCCC added about $2.2 million. Both committees have been spending heavily on a special election in Arizona to replace former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D).

The NRCC and DCCC have both cleared out their debt.

Democrats said it was their best April in the committee’s history. Democrats have out-raised Republicans about two out of every three months so far this cycle.
