DCCC launches two new ads backing Dems in Wisconsin, Illinois

By Alexandra Jaffe - 08/29/12 05:15 PM ET

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is throwing its weight behind two Democratic candidates for Congress, in Wisconsin and Illinois.

In Wisconsin, the group is launching its first independent expenditure ad in that state to slam Republican freshman Rep. Sean Duffy as out of touch. It highlights Duffy's votes against increased military pay, as well as a particularly off-key remark he once made about "struggl[ing] to meet my bills" despite making a lawmaker's salary.

"Congressman Duffy just doesn’t get it," a voiceover says at the end of the ad.

Their other ad will run against Republican Rodney Davis in Illinois, tying Davis to corrupt Illinois Gov. George Ryan. It features clips of reporters talking about Ryan's "clout list," using words like "scandal," "unethical actions" and "insiders."

"[Davis] was right in the middle of it ... named on the infamous George Ryan clout list of political favors," a voiceover says.

This is the first ad out from the DCCC supporting Democrat David Gill since the group announced his addition to its Red to Blue program in early August, which marks the competitiveness of a race and provides increased funds and resources to a candidate.

Pat Kreitlow, the Democrat running against Duffy, is also on the Red to Blue list.
