DCCC ups its ad volley for the general election to 11

By Alexandra Jaffe - 09/07/12 04:55 PM ET

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee released a number of new independent expenditure ads today, bringing the total released this week to 11 and the number of races the DCCC has engaged in over the past three weeks to 15.

It's part of a push to "continu[e] on offense" against Republicans in hopes of remaining competitive in a number of fierce races nationwide, according to a release.

Today's ads include one targeting Republican candidate for Pennsylvania's 12th district Keith Rothfus for signing the Americans for Tax Reform "Taxpayer Protection Pledge," which the ad characterizes as protecting "tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas."

Another DCCC ad released today attacks Rep. Bill Johnson in Ohio's 06th District, and it's the group's first attack there. The ad accuses Johnson of voting to protect tax breaks for outsourcing, connecting that to his business career by pointing out Johnson shipped jobs overseas and received tax breaks.

Those, along with ads in Arizona, California, New York, Illinois and Texas launched this week, mark a barrage of attacks to launch the DCCC's general election campaign.
