GSA watchdog Mica projected to win reelection

By Pete Kasperowicz - 11/06/12 09:36 PM ET

House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman John Mica (R-Fla.), who has pressed the General Services Administration (GSA) for the last several months about its over-priced conferences, is projected to win reelection Tuesday night.

Mica was leading by a 59-41 margin with 50 percent of the polls reporting, and was projected by CNN to win. Mica will be serving his 11th term in the 113th Congress.

Mica has hammered GSA all year over its spending habits, starting with the more than $800,000 conference it held in Las Vegas in 2010.

The committee chairman said in July there could be as many as 70 additional conferences to examine.
