Former US Senate candidate loses House bid in Florida

By Ramsey Cox - 11/06/12 11:46 PM ET

Florida’s newly drawn 22nd district went to Democrat Lois Frankel over state Rep. Adam Hasner (R).

Hasner dropped out of the U.S. Senate race early on and took $600,000 with him to run for the House against former West Palm Beach Mayor Frankel. Rep. Connie Mack ended up winning the GOP primary to challenge incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.), who is projected to defeat Mack.

Population increases in the U.S. census for Florida created two new districts for the state.

CNN declared Frankel the winner, by a 10-point margin, with 92 percent of the precincts reporting.
