GOP Rep. Grimm elected despite FBI probe

By Elise Viebeck - 11/07/12 01:10 AM ET

Rep. Michael Grimm (R-N.Y.) was elected to a second term Tuesday night despite a federal probe of his campaign donations, according to reports.

Grimm, a former agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, represents Staten Island. He defeated Mark Murphy, a Democratic businessman.

A Siena College poll out Nov. 1 gave Grimm an 18-point edge over Murphy.

The investigation into Grimm relates to his 2010 race for Congress and allegations of financial impropriety in his campaign fundraising. Grimm has denied wrongdoing.
