Democrats hold on to Rep. Murphy's seat in Connecticut
Connecticut Democrats had a good night Tuesday with a victory by U.S. Senate candidate Rep. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and his replacement in the House, Democrat Elizabeth Esty.
With nearly 10 percent of precincts left unreported, CNN called the close race for Esty over Republican Andrew Roraback.
The race was considered a close contest; Roraback is a centrist Republican candidate in a district that leans slightly Democratic.
Murphy defeated Republican Linda McMahon in her second attempt to be elected to the Senate. She lost in 2010 to Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.). Murphy replaces retiring Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.).
