Tea Party House freshman loses New Hampshire seat to Democrat

By Kevin Bogardus - 11/07/12 02:26 AM ET

Former Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-N.H.) is returning to Congress.

In a rematch from the 2010 midterm elections, Shea-Porter defeated Rep. Frank Guinta (R-N.H.), according to The Associated Press. Shea Porter had served two terms in the House before losing to Guinta during the last election cycle.

Polls showed the race was a toss-up, despite Guinta beating Shea-Porter by 12 points in their 2010 race. But the House GOP freshman, a conservative aligned with the Tea Party, was not able to beat the Democrat a second time.
