Democrats retake Oberstar's old seat from Rep. Cravaack
One of Democrats' main targets since his surprise 2010 victory, Rep. Chip Cravaack (R-Minn.) lost his seat to former Rep. Rick Nolan (D-Minn.) on Tuesday.
In 2010, the freshman Cravaack beat long-serving House Democrat James Oberstar in one of the biggest upsets of that year.
Since that win, Democrats had put a bull’s-eye on Cravaack’s back.
Nolan, who served in the House in the 1970s, returned the seat to Democratic control. Cravaack was the first Republican to hold the seat since the Truman administration.
CNN called the race for Nolan with three-fourths of the precincts reporting.
