Stephen Colbert will host campaign fundraiser for his sister

Comedy Central host Stephen Colbert will fundraise for his sister's House campaign in late February, according to the Post and Courier in Charleston, S.C.

Colbert's sister, Elizabeth Colbert-Busch (D), is running to fill the seat of now-Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) in the House. The Charleston-based district leans Republican and has a number of GOP candidates in the race.

Colbert joked about his sister's candidacy on the show shortly after she announced — though he'd promised to stay neutral.

"As a broadcast journalist, I'm obligated to maintain pure objectivity," he said on the show. "It doesn't matter that my sister is intelligent, hard-working, compassionate and dedicated to the people of South Carolina. I will not be mentioning any of that on my show."
