NRCC announces regional political team for 2014

By Alexandra Jaffe - 02/11/13 11:57 AM ET

The National Republican Congressional Committee announced its regional political staff going into the 2014 cycle on Monday.

Most of the six political directors are NRCC veterans. Jon Reedy, formerly western regional political director; Robert Jones, formerly deputy director of the NRCC's Patriot Program; George Nassar, formerly southeast regional political director; and David Watts, formerly central Midwest regional political director, returning.

Nassar and Watts will reprise their roles, while Reedy will act as Northeast political director and Jones will act as Western regional political director.

New hires include Joe Pileggi, formerly of Kansas City-based GOP consulting firm Axiom Strategies, and Annie Kelly, who ran Rep. Tom Latham's (R-Iowa) successful bid for reelection in one of the nation's nastiest member-on-member battles in 2012. Pileggi will handle the Great Lakes and Florida areas.

Kelly will lead a new political division, focused mainly on "target states," where the NRCC sees the best opportunity for offense going into 2014. Those states include Georgia, North Carolina, West Virginia, Minnesota, Arizona and Utah.
