Democrats in Mass. Senate race to hold 6 debates

By Alexandra Jaffe - 02/25/13 05:31 PM ET

Reps. Edward Markey and Stephen Lynch will hold six debates during the Democratic primary for Secretary of State John Kerry's (D-Mass.) seat.

The two Democratic congressmen announced on Monday that they would be holding three public, general-issue debates in Boston, Worcester and Springfield, Mass., and three issue-specific debates — one each on jobs and the economy, domestic policy, and foreign policy.

Two of those final three debates will be held in Lowell and New Bedford, Mass., with the final location to be decided.

Dates have yet to be decided, but the candidates only have about nine weeks until election day, so the debates will come at a quick pace.

The three potential Republican candidates, state Rep. Dan Winslow, local businessman Gabriel Gomez and former U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan, have not yet announced their debate plans.
