Former Stabenow chief of staff launches House campaign in California

Renteria touted her work to on agricultural issues: Stabenow heads the Agriculture Committee and successfully passed a farm bill through the Senate earlier this year.

"We have to have folks who know how to work across the aisle, and who know how to be effective," she said, according to the Fresno Bee.

Renteria, a California native who has also worked for Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), had been on the White House's shortlist to run the Commodity Futures Trading Commission before turning down the job early in the summer and moving back home.
