By Aaron Blake - 02/18/10 05:14 PM ET

Princella Smith, a former spokeswoman for Rep. Joseph Cao (R-La.), has announced she will run for Rep. Marion Berry's (D-Ark.) seat.

Smith, an Arkansas native and former aide to Gov. Mike Huckabee and Rep. John Boozman (R-Ark.), will make her official announcement on Saturday in her hometown of Wynne, Ark.

Smith, who is in her mid-20s and is African-American, landed a speaking spot at the 2004 Republican National Convention after winning an MTV contest.
