Hawaii to set May 22 vote for Abercrombie's seat

By Sean J. Miller - 02/25/10 10:45 AM ET

The special election to fill the remainder of Rep. Neil Abercrombie's (D-Hawaii) term will be held on May 22, according to the state Office of Elections. It made the announcement in an invitation for vendor bids on election equipment. The vote is expected to cost the cash-strapped state close to $1 million.

Democrats Ed Case and Colleen Hanabusa, and Republican Charles Djou are all running in the special election.

Abercrombie has set Feb. 28 as his last day in office. He's leaving Congress to run for governor.
