Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) will keynote the National Republican Congressional Committee's annual fundraising dinner, The Hill has confirmed.
Walker is a favorite of movement conservatives for his successful battle against the state's unions, and some believe he may be interested in a presidential run. He'll join Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), a friend of his and the dinner's chairman. The NRCC's annual March dinner is its largest fundraiser of the year, and it often brings in popular governors to help bolster its cause. South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) are the previous two keynote speakers; both events raised more than $10 million for the group. The event is also a good chance for rising stars in the GOP to meet some of the party's most powerful donors.

Former South Carolina state Sen. John Kuhn (R) is up with his first ad of his campaign for Sen. Tim Scott's (R-S.C.) open House seat. The ad is a gauzy biographical ad, filled with images of him with his family inter-spliced with shots of a church and an aircraft carrier. "Growing up on my family farm I learned very early the virtues and values of hard work, personal responsibility, faith in God, devotion to my family, love of my country," Kuhn says in the ad. "[I] Built a successful small business, I married my college sweetheart. I'm living the American dream. As your next congressmen I'll live by these values, take some common sense to Washington and really cut the spending. I'm John Kuhn, I'll join the fight and not the club, and I approve this message."

Former Rep. Debbie Halvorson (D-Ill.) has raised almost no money in her bid to return to Congress, an ominous sign for her campaign. Halvorson brought in just $25,000 in the first month of her campaign and had just $45,000 cash on hand as of the end of the year, according to recently filed reports with the Federal Election Commission. While Halvorson has high name recognition in the district following her 2010 primary challenge to Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.), having no money is a bad spot to be in heading into the home stretch of the campaign.
