Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) will endorse former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford's (R) House campaign, according to CNN.

Paul's endorsement comes as he is gearing up for a potential presidential run, with an eye on early-voting South Carolina; according to the report, he is planning an extensive swing through the state in June. The endorsement could come as early as Tuesday.

The former South Carolina governor has turned his House campaign into one of the most unusual races in recent memory. 

Former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford (R) has been badly outraised by Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch (D) in their House election, but the two have about the same amount of money for the final 10 days of the campaign, according to newly filed Federal Election Commission reports.

Colbert Busch has raised $880,000 to Sanford's $450,000, a sign of her momentum as well as the national support she's received. But he actually has slightly more money — $280,000 to her $250,000 — for the final days in the inexpensive district.
