Axelrod: Limbaugh the 'de facto boss' of GOP, ‘Romney was afraid to take him on’

By Joshua Altman

Top Obama campaign strategist David Axelrod tried to turn the controversy swirling around Rush Limbaugh against presidential candidate Mitt Romney on Thursday.

Democrats have been using Limbaugh's attacks on Sandra Fluke, a Georgetown Law student who testified in favor of President Obama's new contraception mandate, as a sign that Republicans want to roll back women's reproductive rights.

Appearing on CNN’s "Erin Burnett OutFront," Axelrod said that Limbaugh is “really the de facto boss of the party. Everybody responds to him, which is the reason why I think Gov. Romney was afraid to take him on.”

Biden hits road to defend Obama's economic record

By Daniel Strauss and Justin Sink

Vice President Biden offered a blistering critique of the Republican field Thursday, denouncing the GOP field as "about no rules, no risks, no accountability."

Anti-abortion activist might keep Obama from unanimous re-nomination

By Jonathan Easley

Randall Terry, the controversial anti-abortion activist, won 18 percent of the vote in Oklahoma’s Democratic primary on Tuesday night, making him eligible for at least one of the state’s delegates.

President Obama had been the unanimous victor in every Democratic primary contest leading up to Tuesday.

Obama won Oklahoma with 57 percent, but Terry’s more than 20,000 votes was good enough to carry 12 counties in the deeply red state.

Obama secured 39 of the state’s 50 delegates on Tuesday, but Terry qualified for up to six. Another five remain uncommitted and will likely go to Obama.
