The ad also foreshadows the coming fight over the debt ceiling and warns that "Tea Party Republicans are threatening an economic shutdown."

The ad features clips of Republican lawmakers downplaying the effects of the shutdown as a narrator calls it "irresponsible," "reckless" and "destructive."

"The government shutdown is hurting veterans, seniors and our kids. Now Tea Party Republicans are threatening an economic shutdown — refusing to pay our nation's bills, endangering American jobs," a narrator says.
