Nevada GOP chief quits

The chairman of the Republican Party of Nevada tendered his resignation Tuesday citing "business and family reasons."

Chris Comfort's decision had been anticipated but it still leaves the party without a chairman during a crucial Senate primary and while the Tea Party movement is siphoning energy and resources away from state parties.

Nevada Republican Party Vice Chairwoman Sherry Dilley, in a statement: "Dr. Chris Comfort has informed the Nevada Republican Party Executive Committee that he has resigned his position as chairman, effective immediately, due to business and family reasons. We respect his decision and wish him the best. The Nevada Republican Party appreciates his time and service."

The party's website has already been updated to reflect the change.
