The Federal Election Commission increased the amount of money donors can give to both individual candidates and national party committees for the upcoming cycle.
Donors can now give $2,600 to candidates in the primary and general elections, and $32,400 per calendar year to national party committees.
An individual donor may now give a maximum of $123,200 overall for the two-year cycle, which includes a maximum of $48,600 given overall to candidates and $74,600 given to all PACs and parties. National party committees can now give $45,400 to individual Senate candidates.
Because of the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002, contributions are indexed for inflation and increase slightly each cycle.
