Voters are strongly dissatisfied with the state of politics and the direction of the country, according to a NBC-Wall Street Journal poll released on Tuesday.
A record 42 percent said the current Congress is “one of the worst ever," while an additional 33 percent called it “below average.”
On the major issues of 2011, which 27 percent called the “worst year ever,” 31 percent said the rich getting richer and the decline of the middle class was the most disappointing event.
Close behind was the lack of an economic recovery at 29 percent, and 27 percent cited Congress’ inability to address the U.S. deficit.
President Obama’s approval rating rose two points to 46 percent, but is still below its peak of 53 percent in January.
