Rasmussen poll gives Romney biggest Florida lead

By Russell Berman - 01/29/12 02:48 PM ET
Another new poll in Florida shows Mitt Romney with a wide lead over Newt Gingrich ahead of the state’s Tuesday primary.

A survey conducted Saturday by Rasmussen Reports of likely Republican voters gives Romney 44 percent to 28 percent for Gingrich, the former House speaker. Former Sen. Rick Santorum (Pa.) has 12 percent and Rep. Ron Paul (Tex.) took 10 percent in the poll.

The Rasmussen poll appears to confirm a significant lead for Romney, marking a sharp turnaround from a week ago, when Gingrich opened a lead after winning the South Carolina primary.

Two other polls released this weekend, by Marist and a trio of Florida newspapers, also showed Romney with a double digit lead.

The Rasmussen poll of 750 likely voters had a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent.
