Poll: Romney edges Obama in swing-state Iowa

By Jonathan Easley - 06/12/12 12:30 PM ET

Mitt Romney holds a small lead over President Obama in the critical battleground state of Iowa, according to a survey released Tuesday from conservative polling outlet Rasmussen.

Romney took 47 percent to Obama’s 46. That’s in line with the Real Clear Politics average of polls, which shows Obama with a small lead.

Iowa is one of 12 key swing states the president won in 2008 that the GOP is looking to reclaim.

Obama defeated Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in the Hawkeye State by 10 percent in 2008. With the exception of 2004, Iowa has gone to the Democratic candidate in every election since 1988.
